Mary DeMarco Lee, Soprano
MARY DEMARCO LEE is the Founder of, and Chair of the Board of Directors of, SOUNDVIEW OPERA LONG ISLAND, and is the Producer of SOLI’s Inaugural Concert.
Mary performs regularly with Opera Night Long Island and the Gilbert & Sullivan Light Opera Company of Long Island.
Mary’s professional credits include many leading roles in full Opera productions with various companies in New York City and the region, including, with the Amato Opera: Musetta in La Boheme, Micaela in Carmen, Nedda in Pagliacci, Antonia in Les Contes D’Hoffman, and Gennariello in (Gomes’) Salvator Rosa (U.S. premiere). Mary twice was a Finalist in, and once was a winner of, the Amato Opera Competition. She performed the leading role of Celie in (Pasatieri’s) Signor Deluso for the C. W. Post Summer Opera Festival at the Tilles Center. Mary also has performed many ingénue roles in Operetta and Musical Comedy including Yum Yum in the Mikado with GaSLOCoLI, Cunegonde in Candide and Jenny in Company at the Carousel Music Theater, and Laurey in Oklahoma and Julie in Carousel at the Thomaston Opera House. Mary also has performed “character” roles, including Amy in Company at the Carousel Music Theater, and Inez in The Gondoliers, Counsel in Trial by Jury/a/k/a Trial by Zoom, and Cousin Hebe in HMS Pinafore, with GaSLOCoLI.
Mary is a graduate of the Purchase College Conservatory of Music Voice and Opera Studies Program, where she performed her first leading opera role, Susanna in the Marriage of Figaro.
